High-End 2001

Friday

What can i say here... tubes, Lowthers an vinyl... The Opera room has it all for those of us who enjoy new old technology. Proof that the more that things change, the more they stay the same.

The Bella Luna (9,800/pr DM) loudspeaker by Duevel reminds of a miniature version of Platinum Audio's Air Pulse 3.1... This special pair with acrylic is a one-off model... i was asked not to consider the added cost in this special unit. This room, without a doubt, had the best sound of the show so far.

Seen above at virtually life size it WBT's new economy loudspeaker binding posts that were introduced here at the Frankfurt High End show. This completes this loudspeaker binding post line, as seen below, with their economy (left), then gold (center) and pure platinum (right) offerings.

Martion Audiosysteme's horn loudspeaker.

French company Ocellia and has a new Kedros loudspeaker (50,000 French Francs), unique silver voice coil wrapped by silk. The separate 30cm driver is around 16,000 Francs a pair.

Audio Note had their first full production Kagki parallel 2A3 all silver (Level 5) monoblock amplifiers (£25,000/pr). Add the usual Audio Note exotica parts here.

At the Frankfurt show is the official European premier of Air Tight's ATM-211 monoblock amplifier (22,000 DM) and is offered by AXISS Distribution Deutschland. They also were showing the new Odeon Latriviata loudspeakers.

Junji Kimura from 47 Laboratory is sitting next to the PitRacer CD player (front), the popular Gaincard amplifier (rear left) and many other 40 Labs goodies. Take note! The single driver loudspeaker is a new product invented by Sead Lejlic... and sounded quite remarkable!

What surely must qualify as the tallest platter in the world, the EnVogue Quasar (17,900 DM) has an approximately 11" high platter. It was put to good effect with the Synthesis tube amplifier and Zingali 2S (9,000 DM a pair including stand.

Seen at larger-than-life size is Microgroove's 1818s cartridge (€1,000) moving magnet enclosed within a Pear wood bosy.

Lamm Audio's M1.1 monoblock amplifiers were being used to good effect with the Fidelo loudspeakers.

Air Tight's latest drawing of the nicknamed Godzilla monoblock amplifier is shown here by Air Tight's very own Mr. Miura. It will use twelve 6550 to produce 300 watts.

Nothing butt cables...
