Welcome To Our First
Issue!
Welcome to the very first issue of the Enjoy the Music.com DIY Magazine! It brings me joy to make this announcement, as was taught to solder by my father at five years old and my first 'day job' was for Heathkit Electronics. Today, there are many companies offering parts and kits for the DIY enthusiast than four decades ago! Due to the Internet, it is extremely easy to purchase kits from Asia, Europe, America and Australia. Please note there are some DIY kit projects that are extremely easy, while others may be nearly impossible for the first time builder. Naturally there are some that fall somewhere in the middle, and as such there is a rating system i have devised to better assist in letting you know what it may take to complete a project. Since some project deal with high voltage, there are also some warnings to be said. To learn about the rating system and the warnings simply click here. Helping launch our first issue is none other than Nelson Pass of Pass Laboratories, First Watt and Pass DIY. Have known Nelson for quite some time, as one of my first high-end audio preamplifiers about 15 years ago was the Threshold Fet 10e, an amazing preamplifier for its time and still holds its own against modern gear today. For those unfamiliar, back then Threshold and sister company Forte products were all designed by Nelson Pass and they received critical acclaim worldwide! Nelson has also helped design amplification for Nakamichi and many other companies. Nelson gave Enjoy the Music.com DIY Magazine the worlds first look at his new First Watt B1 preamplifier! And if this were not enough, our very own senior editor Dick Olsher, a man with decades of DIY and review experience, provides his critical assessment of this new unit within Enjoy the Music.com's Review Magazine. Add to that, we have a great article from one of our online discussion boar friends, Jon L., concerning capacitors. Lastly, i have taken the time to do some small editing and have republished the extremely popular Max Rochlin Memorial Cable. This cable has been around for well over a decade and has been extremely popular ever since! As i just checked Google, i see there are many pages. This is bringing a tears to my eyes right now as, well, the cable is dedicated to my brother Max. If you read the article you will see why. So welcome once again to Enjoy the Music.com's DIY Magazine, and i hope to offer four to six editions a year as demand and our staff of writers can produce excellent articles. If you are a DIY enthusiast with the skills to build and write about it, we are still hiring qualified journalists! Yes, you will be paid for your hard work, we are not looking for freebie handouts like lesser online magazines. This ensures we have some of the highest quality of writers within the industry. To learn more, simply e-mail me by clicking here. As always, in the end what really matters to me is that you... Enjoy the music, Steven R. Rochlin
