The great folks at Accuphase seem to have an amazing new product on their hands. Their DP-75V The DP-75 ($11,000 is only a DAC unit yet is upgradeable to the SACD and DVD A format. The transport is a CD only transport in the player. To play the other formats you will need a SACD transport. Accuphase is building one and also a DVD-Audio transport plus the necessary ADB2 cards (Accuphase Digital Bus System) to insert into the DP-75V.

 These cards expand the capabilities of the DV-75V in various ways. You can add on their AES/EBU input card, an AT&T optical input card and others. The unit comes standard with Toslink optical and coaxial 75 ohm digital inputs. Both balanced (XLR) and unbalanced (RCA) analog output is standard. An attractive matching wireless remote control is also included. For those feeling their CDs are outdated technology (which it has been fir many years now), the Accuphase DP-75V upsamples 128x of the standard sampling rate of 44.1 kHz CDs! Never one to rest on their laurels, Air Tight's new ATM-300 ($5,500) employs a single Western Electric WE300B in pure "Class A" operation. It is DC heater driven to help reduce inherent noise. For driver duties the 12BH7 is used to good effect. The bias is self-adjusting and a "dampening control" allows from setting the negative feedback from 0 to 6 db. Fill point to point wiring and very high-quality parts are used throughout the unit. Power output is claimed to be 8 watts per channel.

 

Highly raved about Placette Audio are featuring their very special preamplifier line stages that use 126-step attenuators. What makes their preamplifier extra special is the usage of only very expensive Vishay  S-102 resistors. Pricing starts at $1,00 and goes all the way up to $4,000 depending on the configuration.

 

PS Audio were driving their point home about the need for power filtration and generating "new" power. As seen above, the PS Audio Power Plant cleaned up the harmonic noise within the electrical power while also providing for a non-clipped sine wave. It has long been known that dedicated power helps to enhance a music reproduction system. Of course PS Audio also makes use of the advantages of balanced power, which i have been a proponent of long before any "audiophile" company produced such units.

 

The above cool monoblock amplifier is the Antique Sound Lab AQ 1006-845 ($2,800 per pair) which uses the very powerful 845 triode output tube. Producing 22 watts of power in pure "Class A' single-ended zero feedback, it is hard for me to believe this unit is tube rectified, uses Cerefine power capacitors, is 100% point to point wired yet still retails at under $3,000! Needless to say you'll be reading our review of this unit in due time my friends.

The matching preamplifier to the Antique Sound Lab amplifier above is their AQ 2002 ($1,000) tube rectified, Cerefine power capacitor equipped and photo stage wielding capability, it retails for only $1,000. The AQ 1006-845 and AQ 2002 could be the biggest value dynamic duo on the planet! Stay tuned!

 

Art Audio were showing their almost ready for prime time prototype called the Milagro (miracle in Spanish). The tube complement consists of the VV32B output tube, the CV378 for rectification, a 6DJ8 for the gain stage and a 12BH7 for additional gain. The output and input transformers are on their own block of "Dark Matter". Dark Matter is claimed to be a vibrational sync to help remove the negative effects of resonance within a unit. All transformers are magnetically shielded to further enhance the music reproduction qualities.

 

  

Audio Note was in full force with their Zero Series units. The top right piece is their M-One pre-amplifier which includes a wireless remote control and offers four inputs plus tape loop. The top right two units are their new DAC-2. This two-chassis design employs one chassis for analog duties while the other is for digital. This greatly reduces the chances of the fragile analog stage from being corrupted by the digital signal. Both balanced (XLR) and RCA analog outputs are provided for.

 

For those of you looking for the Naked Truth, well, here it is (seen above). This 60 watt OTL monoblock uses eight 6AS7 tubes with three 6SN7 tubes for driver duties. The entire unit is point to pint soldered for the highest of quality. An amazing 180 Joules of capacitance and 7.5 Henries of inductance is standard. Only 1% metal film resistors and used within the signal's path. A special replay allows for a 30 second warm-up period. Both balanced (XLR) and unbalanced (RCA) are included.

 

The all new Diva loudspeakers could be the next incredible value for the dollar offering. To the left is their Diva 4.1 which retails at $549 per pair! The larger speaker to the right is the Diva 6.1 and sells for $999 a pair. Below is their Diva 3.1 minimonitor with a too good to be true pricing of only $399 per pair!!! By the way, these are real wood finishes and not cheesy plastic laminate. As i said, this deal could be too good to pass up folks. Run, don't walk to your nearest dealer before they are all gone or Diva comes to their senses!
