Audeze, SPL, Reference Recording and Olive @ CAS 2014 Here at CAS 2014 in San Francisco were the Audeze LCD-X planar magnetic headphones mated with the SPL Phonitor 2. The sound was fast, clean and very dynamic! A wonderful combo!
Across the room is Reference Recordings as they had all the great recordings they offer. You could purchase their excellent, well-recorded music right here at the CAS 2014! If you have not discovered the many great titles by Reference Recordings you need to visit their site ASAP!
Olive brought a world premiere of their crowfunded model ONE ($799), which is a touchscreen and app controlled, Burr-Brown PCM5142 based 32-bit/384kHz DAC and integrated amplifier media player. It handles WAV, AIFF, FLAC, MP3, AAC, Apple Lossless, and Ogg Vorbis. It comes with 2 TB of storage and a 32 wpc stereo amplifier. We here at Enjoy the Music.com are always supportive of great crowd-designed models and Olive takes it all to the next level! During the show i spent quite some time checking out the unit and their interface and must say congrats to their code monkey. The interface is perhaps one of the best, smoothest operating i have used in quite some time for an under $1000 unit. Let me say that again, the Olive ONE has a really great graphical user interface! It is extremely responsive and very intuitive to use. Other manufacturers should take note here! Hardwired features include a 3.5mm analog audio output and gold-plated loudspeaker binding posts. For digital inputs, you have Bluetooth and DLNA/UPnP and for digital output it includes S/PDIF via RCA and USB. Bravo Olive for a job well done!
