The world's smallest tube
amplifier, and he now has a website at greatech.de, is this small 1 watt
per channel with high-mu triode (5744) and beam power pentode (5902). Note the
business card to the left for size comparison. At €900
it could power high-sensitivity loudspeaker or, dare i say it, act as a
headphone amplifier. Perhaps the Head-Fi guys
might want to try it. The built in transformer can be wired for 4 or 8 ohms.
Oh, and one is coming my way for review.
Earning my vote for the
most interesting room tuning devices is the JR-Audio room where parts from a
pipe organ were used!
Paolo Bedushi Audio Systems
had their Scarlatti monitor loudspeaker (€4,650 not including stands). A
pair of 5-nch drivers flanks a single 1-inch, horn-loaded tweeter. The horn is
milled from a solid block of aluminum and both front and rear panels are also
aluminum.
Orator VOF loudspeakers,
model PSI 300 (€8,500), have a pair of 150mm woofer and an off-center
mounted 24mm silk soft dome tweeter. The woodwork looks very impressive as
does the sculpted outward sections for the larger drivers.
Brussels is an nice place with a mix of cultures. Seen here is the view from the
lovely Crowne Plaza hotel.
Tuning devices abound as
Harmonix offers many levels and types of devices for audiophiles.
Jadis' DA88 Signature
stereo integrated amplifier (€9,800) is handcrafted in France produces 60
watts per channel in pure 'Class A.' Five inputs and an after preamplifier
buffered output allow for bi-amplification or subwoofer duties. In fact you
