Toronto Audiofest 2023 Show Report
James Drew of Wired With Sound (right) reveals the winner of the next Lifetime Achievement Award to Max Rhule.
Max Rhule presents the Lifetime Achievement Award to his father, Don Rhule of Kimber Canada.
A congratulatory hug ensues.
Overwhelmed with emotion, Don was able to get a few words out while fighting back the tears.
This was one of the most joyous and emotional presentations of the Lifetime Achievement Awards since its inception. In the photo above, Markus Bundze, owner of Kennedy HiFi Audio and Video, jokes with Don Rhule as Adrian Low looks on with a smile.
G!VE (Give) is a Montreal band founded in 2000 by singer-songwriter Caroline St-Louis and guitarist-producer Stephan Ritch. They have performed many times at the Canadian shows over the years as well as given demonstrations of the recording process in a studio set up during the Montreal shows. I believe they have just released another record? Giveband.ca. They are also part of the team that puts on the show every year.
Sarah Tremblay was spotted in a rare moment with her son, Dylan Dacres with Motet Distribution, and daughter, Alexandra Dacres.
And the brains and brawn of the Canadian shows co-mingle in the form of Sarah and Michel. It took only a moment to realize that, working on 4.5 hours of sleep on Saturday, I was toast. With due diligence, I retired early to prepare for Sunday’s adventure.
