Part 6: Montreal Audiofest Chronicles 2024
Canopee Audio
Back in the hallway, a gentleman from Canopee Audio had his very attractive solid wood audio racks on display.
He's probably the owner and builder.
Solen Inc.
In addition to their room upstairs (1221), Solen had a table in the hallway selling small items.
Barcola Bistro Audio
Tucked beneath the escalator was Barcola Bistro Audio. Don't be fooled by the Harmonic Audio sign – that's the guy who built the tube amp that was sitting next to the Lenco turntable.
The speaker was most unusual with the horn-loaded compression driver on top facing into the wall.
M5 Lenbrook Americas
While the room was largely empty on Sunday morning, I found the PSB Synchrony T800 premium tower speakers along with a couple of PSB subs nicely filling this large space driven by a pair of NAD M23 stereo amps (bi-amp'ing?, $4900), and M66 BluOS streaming DAC preamp ($7500).
At the side of the room was a Bluesound display with affordable streaming products.
Audio Sensibility
Out in the hall was my good friend Steven Huang at his Audio Sensibility table. I picked up his new Signature power cord for review at the Toronto show, and while I've had great success with it so far, I want to use it on some more gear before writing the review.
Steven's latest component is a 3D printed cable holder using carbon fiber-impregnated plastic – a less expensive version of the one offered by Furutech, at $300, or $250 with the purchase of a power cord. I put one to use immediately upon return from the show and have yet to have my problematic power cord disengage from its component. So far, so good, Steven. It's always a pleasure to stop by Audio Sensibility as they make fine products at very fair prices. And Steven does more than his share to educate and encourage upcoming audiophiles, far beyond just selling his products.
