Part 5: Montreal Audiofest Chronicles 2024
Ah-ha! I see numerous illuminated wristbands at this table, but I think the lady in pink is a gate crasher.
There were not a lot of opportunities to pick up chicks at this banquet but some guys are eternally optimistic.
This table appeared to be taking their hors d’oeuvres very seriously.
Eventually, the house was brought to order.
A thunderous round of applause was given to Melanie…er, make that Sarah Tremblay, for pulling this show together with the largest pre-paid attendance in years.
Just as they announced the recipient of the first Life Achievement Award…my camera battery died. And I didn’t have my backup battery because, well, I changed into a suit and a Jerry Garcia tie for the occasion and my spare battery was in my jeans. Calm, cool and collected, I threaded my way through the tables and returned to my room, which, thankfully, was in this same hotel.
By the time I made it back, they were announcing the second recipient of the Life Achievement Award to Bruno DeLorimier, a Canadian rep for Nordost who is retiring.
People got up to shake his hand as he worked his way through the tables.
The man who I later learned was the recipient of the first award greeted him with a heartfelt hug.
Receiving the award
A humble acceptance speech followed.
