Sony, a supporter of Hi-Res Audio and creators of DSD / SACD, were at LAAS 2017 with an immense array of audio gear in a variety of locations. Sony offers everything from home and portable, to car audio products and pretty much everything under the sun you could ever desire in audio electronics to some degree.
Within their large exhibition room was a great showing of their home and portable products, with cars and even the Magic Bus making it's appearance all show long outside.
Cookie Marenco, all-around great gal, music lover, and founder of Blue Coast Records, was using the top-line Sony monitor speakers with Pass Labs amplification to showcase their recordings. It was also great seeing all the recording/mixing gear within Cookie's room too.
Samsung-owned Harman, who brings us Mark Levinson, Lexicon, Revel, etc, was at LAAS 2017 with a sporty Lexus filled with their car audio offerings.
Jon Whitledge loves music, and considering the thousands of hours he's put into the Sony sponsored Hi-Res Magic Bus, the sound equaled the immense effort. Here's a look at the inside, and note the two-way speaker 'pods' on the door pillar.
Naturally Hi-Res Music was being played through Sony's top-line NW-WM1Z portable music player ($3199).
Speaking of Jon Whitledge's Magic Bus and Cookie Marenco of Blue Coast Records, during LAAS 2017 Fiona Joy's album Into the Mist. launch party commenced. Pink colors, balloons, great drink and more were there for all to devour. Always enjoy chatting music with singers, songwriters, engineers, musicians, etc and must say that Fiona's new release Into The Mist is a must-have audiophile recording. Remarkable clarity as it was recorded in DSD256 and mixed through analog console to DSD256. Give her album a listen, plus you can buy it in Hi-Res Music, at this link.
Well, that wraps up many of the 'outlining' exhibition space, yet have many ore rooms to cover here at LAAS 2017 so check back tomorrow for part two. As always, enjoy the music!
