Joseph Audio @ HIGH END 2015

Joseph Audio @ HIGH END 2015

Joseph of Joseph Audio has every reason to smile broadly as he showcased his European debut of the Prism monitor ($3699 per pair). Available is three different colors, a very sophisticated suspension of the 160mm midrange/woofer cone provides very impressive and clean bass down to 40 Hz. Mated with a fast tweeter capable of delivering transients up to 22kHz, have always had a fondness for Jeff Joseph speakers. They tend to be smooth yet highly detailed. Jeff played some awesome techno music and was funkingroovin' to the beat. Did i mention that have heard his creations since, oh my goodness, well, since he began this endeavor. We met in NYC as i recall and with some of my online friends we gave his then new speaker a great listening session.

The Joseph Audio Prism speakers have an impedance of 8 Ohms (6 ohms minimum) and are very easy to be powered by either solid-sate or vacuum tube amplification. What is always an interest fact with Jeff Joseph speakers is the crossover network. Jeff designs a special 'Parallel Asymmetrical Infinite Slope Crossover' at 2 kHz for the Prisms. He personally takes painstaking effort in hand selecting each component, plus each network is tested and individually calibrated to ensure the results yields a virtually perfect match to the original design prototype.

By using a very steep crossover filter slope, Jeff Joseph succeeds at achieving a bare minimum of acoustical interference combined with low distortion and a very wide dynamic range. This design also keeps everything in-phase throughout the crossover regions. Overall frequency response is from 42 Hz to 20 kHz (2dB tolerances) and each one weighs 36 lbs. The lovely cabinet has subtle lines to provide an eye-catching style and overall dimensions are 15" x 9" x 13" (HxWxD).

Did i mention how much i have always enjoyed the sound from the wide variety of Joseph Audio speakers i have heard over the years? You really should hear his speakers; they are very special and can handle all genres of music too.
