Exceptional audio and video for the modern musicphile.
Show Report By Steven R. Rochlin

Joseph Audio, Doshi Audio, And Cardas Audio @ FLAX 2023 Exceptional audio and video for the modern musicphile.

Jeff Joseph makes truly incredible loudspeakers. His unique crossover design and use of top-quality drivers have earned many awards over the decades. Jeff is also one of the early internet guys, so we met first met decades ago during a GTG in NYC. We all had a great time, and over the decades Jeff has fine-tuned his designs to near perfection! During the Florida International Audio Expo 2023 Jeff was playing his Pulsar2 Graphene stand-mounted speaker ($9999 per pair).

The front end consisted of Doshi Evolution Series Line Preamplifier ($19,995) and Evolution Series Stereo Amplifier $21,995, with cabling by Cardas Audio (Clear Beyond series. Cardas Audio Nautilus Power Strip and Clear Network Ethernet cables were put to great use with Aurender's impressive A20 Network Player for streaming. Jeff came to FLAX with a great music video that impressed many visitors at FLAX 2023. With audiophiles also bringing video into their music systems, the continued increase of immersivephiles is growing with each passing day.

Joseph Audio's Pulsar2 Graphene stand-mounted speaker presents a true 8 Ohm load and take advantage of their special Parallel Asymmetrical Infinite Slope Crossover at 2 kHz. The steep filter slope is claimed to "ensure good acoustical behavior in the crossover regions, with a minimum of acoustical interference, along with low distortion and wide dynamic range. Driver acoustic responses are in-phase throughout the crossover regions." Drivers are by SEAS as the Pulsar2 produces sound from 42Hz to 20kHz within a very tight 2dB 'window', with overall cabinet dimensions being 15" x 9" x 13" (HxWxD). A small box that makes impressively big sound!

My listening notes simply say fast and clean, amazing imaging! Yes, even the exclamation point as once you hear Joseph Audio speakers you realize these are something very special. Sure stand-mounted speakers have decisive advantages when it comes to some things, yet even their floorstanders have the same excellent sound, yet with deeper bass response for those who love boom-in-the-room. Major kudos to also mating video Jeff, as our hobby is without a doubt expanding to include a hi-res video so we can enjoy both audio and visual pleasures.
