Neil Walker
Neil Walker began reviewing records and audio gear in January 2000 after some years of writing and editing magazines and promotional materials. It was a move that made sense. For as long as he can remember, he has loved music and audio. In fact, he was an audiophile before stereo records and sound systems existed.
After some years of using one system, he rediscovered audiophile gear — just straight two-channel sound. Then, surround sound movies on VHS and on DVD became available - his interests expanded and now he enjoys three decent systems. One system combines traditional CD and vinyl sound sources. In another room, he uses a standard five-channel surround-sound TV and DVD system. Finally, he succeeded in bringing some of his 2000+ CDs into the living and dining area of the house by using his computer, its wireless router and a Slim Devices Inc. Squeezebox that feeds an Acoustic Energy live speaker system. Neil's philosophy regarding music and other recorded sound is simple: if it seems effortless, sounds realistic and feels musical, it must be good.
