Questyle Audio CMA600i And QP1R
During AXPONA 2016 i already gave you the low-down about the Questyle CMA600i ($1299) and here's a pic of two of them at T.H.E. Show Newport 2016. Questyle Audio's CMA600i Integrated Desktop DAC with Headphone Amplifier utilizes the patented Current Mode headphone amplification technology Questyle Audio is famous for. The 600i is baby brother to the Award Winning CMA800i. The CMA600i utilizes a USB port that adopts a unique 3X Clock structure. This ensures a proper sync with the premium AK4490 32-bit DAC chipset from AKM. The chipset includes a newly developed switch capacitor filter "OSR Doubler" that greatly reduces sound degradation from noise shaping, achieving a flat noise floor up to 200kHz. The AK4490 chip obtains first class sound performance by also reducing jitter and pre-ringing to undetectable levels.
They truly took their time and care in designing this unit. The CMA600i also features a 4-pin balanced XLR stereo headphone output, accommodating balanced headphones with a single integrated DAC/headphone amp. The CMA600i is also equipped with XLR and RCA pre-amplifier outputs that support 24bit/192KHz transmission to a separate power amplifier, such as the new R200i wireless / sired amplifiers that accommodate balanced connection, and allows the CMA600i to act as a separate, premium DAC/Preamp. I'd say more, yet we have a surprise soon and, well, am not one to spoil a surprise.
Of course their outstanding QP1R was also at T.H.E. Show Newport 2016 and it is my fave, and most accurate, portable music player within its price range. Having heard many PMP devices, the Question still reigns supreme and you can read my review of the award-winning Questyle Audio QP1R at this link.
